HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Once upon a time, a long, long time ago (1978), the Allan family decided to rent a cottage in the Lake District for the Easter holidays and invited their old friends, the Fallows family, to join them. We stayed at "Croftfoot", a old farmhouse in Ennerdale, surrounded by fields of sheep and with beautiful views of the lake and mountains. We went walking every day and had a huge Christmas-like feast on Easter Day.

THE BIRTH OF THE FALLANS

Fictitious "clubs" like the Famous Five and Red Hand Gang were fashionable at the time, so the youngsters (Joanna and Kate Fallows, Jonathan and Jeremy Allan) called themselves "The Fallans". We were a formidable team and held meetings, had secret passwords and codenames, built camps, played games and had adventures... We had the odd disagreement (usually over Jo A who, initially at least, was too little to join in our games), but we became, and still remain, firm friends.

THE START OF AN ERA...

That first Easter was a huge success and Croftfoot was rented again the following Easter, and again the Easter after that. And so began an annual tradition that has continued until the present day.
